As the number of mobile phones and smartphones
supporting bluetooth continue to be in high demand, so do bluetooth
accessories such as headsets. The higher end models do not only perform
better, but continue to get smaller in size. Today, I have the pleasure
of looking at the new Bluespoon AX from Nextlink. Considered to be the
smallest & lightest headset in the world, this particular model has gained
quite a bit of interest among many mobile/smartphone fanatics.

The Bluespoon AX comes in a blister package
which includes a mini USB cable, two ear pieces (2 sizes), and a handy neck
strap. Unfortunately, our sample did not come with a manual, which made
it a bit difficult to get up and running. However, I have contacted
Nextlink and the retail version does ship with a manual. More on that a
bit later though.

Its simple yet innovative design is sure to
please those who see or use it. It basically consists of the headphone
and a rubber ear piece designed to backup its claim of being indeed the
smallest bluetooth headset on the market. It is available in a highly
appealing "silk black" color with silver buttons.

But how is such a small headset powered?
Well, it uses of a small coin cell type battery. But don't let its
size fool you. This bluetooth headset is rated to have an impressive 6 hours of talktime and 300+ hours of standby time. We'll test its performance a
bit later in this review.

Above is a shot of the headset next to the
highly innovative GG Telecom GG03 in order to demonstrate just how small it
really is. I thought the Gg03 was quite small until I laid eyes on the
Bluespoon AX.
