Installation & Testing

For a case without a tool free system, the install was very easy. The case was easy to dismantle and allowed free access to wherever you needed to go. For this review, I installed the Raidmax 420W power supply that came with the Virgo.

Test System –
• Abit NF7-S Rev 2 Motherboard
• AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
• Asus Geforce4 Ti4200 Video Card
• Corsair XMS 2700 DDR-RAM

My standard testing consists of running the system for an hour at idle to obtain a baseline temperature, then loading the processor for another hour with Folding@home to obtain a load temperature. Both measurements were taken with an ambient room temperature of 25°C, +/- .5°C

Idle Temp Load Temp
29ºC 30ºC

These numbers are much better than the similar setup of the Virgo. The only big difference between the two was the location of the 80mm fan and the addition of the vents on the top edge of the Armor Case top panel. These simple changes netted a five to six degree improvement. I still think removal of the rear vents will improve these numbers even more and it will also eliminate turbulence…the main cause of noise in a fan.
