Albatron PX845PEV Pro Review - Continued

Board Layout

The Albatron PX845PEV Pro is one tiny motherboard!  The board measures a mere 7.84in x 11.57in.  Amazing how they fit so much in such a small board.  The motherboard is quite attractive! Its cool blue PCB is similar to that of the Shuttle AS45GTR we reviewed here.  Let's take a closer look at it.

There is no on-board RAID.  You only have your primary & secondary IDE connectors supporting ATA100.  The northbridge has a heatsink but no fan.  You may want to throw one on there considering it's located so close to the CPU itself.  The southbridge has no heatsink and you may want to install one there as well.

The Floppy connector is oddly placed on the opposite side of the board.  The CD-IN connectors for sound are also located at this end.

As you can see, space it limited around the CPU socket.  Capacitors located along the left side and the ATX 12v connector is very close to the processor itself.

Notice the AGP slot above.  It actually almost touches the first DIMM slot.  The ATX power connector is also in an odd place but understandable due to the boards size.  There are 3 fan headers all in good locations.

Finally, we have a shot of the rear I/O panel.  You have your sound connectors, LAN and 2 USB ports.
