Coolermaster Aerogate 3 Fan Controller

Model:  ALD-V03

Manufacturer:  Coolermaster

Provider:  Coolermaster

Reviewed By:  Tom

Today I’ll be taking a look at a new Cooler Master product, this time on the ALD-V03 Aerogate 3 Fan Controller. Cooler Master definitely pitched the design book out the window when they started styling this unit. Most fan controllers do not look as smooth or rounded as this one does, so I was eager to see if the level of functionality and performance matched up!

Packaging and Contents

The box was of the usual Cooler Master purple, with a healthy dose of colorful pictures and useful information.

The Aerogate 3 itself and all the usual wiring were packaged neatly in a Styrofoam tray, keeping the controller in pristine shape all the way to its eventual owner. One thing that got me right away was that the box said the unit would be black, but after some online examination of pictures I believe I got a silver one. This particular Aerogate 3 is a first production run model, and lacked the manual that will ship with all retail versions.

There are more than a few wires that ship with the Aerogate 3, and if the four temp probes and four fan extensions don’t tell you how many fans it can control, I don’t know what will! Also included was a bag of screws to mount it and a power adaptor. The power cable is a four pin Molex to Mini Molex extension, so if you have the extra Mini Molex (floppy) power connector it will work just fine that way.

The Aerogate 3 was surprisingly light…It definitely weighs less than both the Super Flower Fan Master and Silverstone Eudemon. The only thing I saw right away that I did not like was the small single line display, which will really limit the amount of info that can be presented.
