Super-Flower 14cm Fan Power Supply Review

Model:  SF-450TS

Manufacturer:  Super-Flower

Provider:  Super-Flower

Introduction

One of the most overlooked pieces of equipment that can be installed in a computer nowadays is the power supply. If the CPU is the heart, and the RAM is the lungs, then the power supply is the blood. Even if you had a hardcore power supply, it is often difficult to customize one without posing a serious risk to life and limb, and it is difficult mod a power supply without interfering with the devices’ integrity. Fortunately for us, Manufacturers have begun to produce power supplies that not only have more power than their predecessors, but also sport some great looks. Today I’m fortunate enough to have two power supplies to show you. Both are 14cm Fan models from Super-Flower – one 350W model in mirror blue, and a 450W model in mirror red. Do they have what it takes to be on your short “must have” list? Let’s take a closer look and see…

Packaging and Contents

The box arrived on my doorstep on a rainy Florida day, and the box was in very nice shape considering some of the ones I’ve received lately…Thank you Airborne Express!

The boxes inside the box were very colorful and attractive, and had lots of pretty pictures of the power supplies contained inside. Even had some pictures of other shiny finish colors that I didn’t see on the website! Yes, this PS is nickel plated! I dug out some gloves so as not to spoil the finish in these next few pictures. I’ve seen power supplies come with LED fans, with clear windows, with UV sleeving…but not nickel plated. The total effect of the nickel plating is very striking.

The boxes included a colorful manual (in Chinese and English) and a power cord. Unfortunately, one of the models I got was a 220V only version, and I was unable to test it, although I did examine it for build and finish quality. I even checked at the local rat shack, and they didn’t have an adaptor that would handle the power involved.
