Abit IC7-G Canterwood Motherboard Review

Model:  IC7-G

Manufacturer:  Abit

Reviewed By:  Miguel

Review Date:  10/30/03

Canterwood boards based on the new Intel 875P chipset offer a new level of performance, thanks to their dual channel DDR400 support, 800MHz system bus and the exclusive Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT). Combine all these features with a quality enthusiast board from ABIT, and you got yourself a top performer. Abit Corporation has released a series of new boards that not only offer the performance and reliability we’d expect, but also offers some nice overclocking features and a rather attractive bundle. The IC7-G is one of the companies latest offerings catered to the enthusiast community and those looking for the latest technology and highest performance.

Packaging & Bundle

I'm not much to brag about the packaging, but I'll make an exception in this case.  This is by far the most attractive packaging I have come across.  Open the great looking black box, and you'll reveal a nice aluminum Abit case badge.  They include a very generous bundle, which is expected from a high-end board such as this one.  You get one extension plate with 2 USB ports and 2 Firewire ports, two black SATA cables, one black rounded IDE cable, one black rounded floppy cable, one IDE to SATA adapter, two SATA 4-pin power adapter cables, I/O plate, one SATA driver floppy, CDROM, quick install guide, manual and a cool silver case badge.   It's nice to see they include an IDE to SATA adapter, however, you should note that it only supports one drive.
